CLSA University

CLSA University is a collection of continuing education courses and resources from basic to advanced contact lens education. Most online courses are available at no cost to our members.  For those courses that have a cost, they are provided at a discounted rate.  This is one of the most comprehensive collections of contact lens education available.

Education Meetings

CLSA’s Annual Education Meeting brings together renowned instructors to provide cutting edge education. CLSA hosts regional specialty meetings to provide in depth training on a variety of topics. The schedule and location of these will be announced and posted on this site.

EyeWitness Journal

EyeWitness Journal is published quarterly and has 1-2 continuing education articles for certified professionals to earn NCLE and JCAHPO CE. EyeWitness includes articles and columns covering important contact lens topics. Regular features include: CLSA News; Bottom Line; Product Watch; Consultants Perspective; and CLSA’s Associate Members Directory. Many supporters of CLSA advertise in EyeWitness to showcase contact lens products and services. EyeWitness is the premier contact lens resource for eye care professionals.

Textbooks and Study Materials

CLSA publishes Contact Lens Manuals and Test Review booklets, ideal for students and professionals preparing for contact lens certification, examinations, or seeking specialization in contact lens fitting. CLSA produces a Photo Atlas CD-ROM, and other publications covering advanced contact lens indications and contraindications. To review available products go to the CLSA Bookstore.

Rebate Programs

CooperVision sponsors a Frequent Fitter Program to allow members to earn rebate dollars that can be used for CLSA membership, CLSA sponsored meetings, and CLSA published educational materials.                                                                                         
Members also have access to a free national discount program through Office Depot. Benefits include purchasing discounts and special offers found on-line and in stores.

Career Advancement

CLSA offers the premier professional contact lens credential, Fellow of the Contact Lens Society of America (FCLSA). To become a Fellow you must complete a series of professional pre-requisites and sit for the Fellow Practical Exam. As a Fellow, you belong to an exclusive network of professionals considered to be the most advanced contact lens specialists and professionals. Opportunities to teach, write articles and mentor other contact lens professionals and students, are just a few of the benefits of being a Fellow. Learn more about becoming a CLSA Fellow.

Networking

CLSA members are a network of professionals dedicated to contact lens excellence. CLSA encourages members to connect with one another by region or specialty area. A Member Search directory allows members to log-in and search for colleagues and connect with a community of contact lens professionals.

Other Programs

Opticianry Schools Program. Accredited Opticianry Schools may request a CLSA Fellow Instructor to teach a half-day course on a contact lens subject. This program gives students a practitioner’s perspective on contact lens fitting and is a great way for programs to enhance their curriculum. For more information contact clsa@clsa.info

Certain licensed states offer apprenticeship and/or home study programs to educate professionals on contact lens fitting. Alaska, Florida, Nevada and New York have current programs in place.
